As a Senior Explosive Operations Engineer, you will lead the design and integration activities for a rapid development, missile program. This role will report to the Program Chief Engineer and interface closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and test teams to ensure timely and effective delivery of mission-critical capabilities. In this role you'll translate program and customer requirements into engineered solutions. You will influence design, testing, hazard analysis, and field support for fielded systems.

  • Leading system thru government safety approval process
  • Ensuring energetic systems are designed with industry and DOD best practices
  • Lead integration of missile warhead systems, ensuring alignment with design and performance requirements
  • Define and enforce system safety checks, safing mechanisms, and interlocks to meet operational and regulatory standards
  • Manage external vendors and subcontractors, including technical oversight and schedule alignment
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software, hardware, test, and safety teams to ensure full system readiness
  • Support verification, validation, and test planning related to weapon system integration
  • 10+ years' or more experience in explosives applications and/or operations execution and supplier/contractor management accompanied by deep understanding of explosives engineering, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Experience working government safety approvals
  • Strong technical understanding of warhead integration into munitions systems
  • Experience with fire control systems and their interaction with both launch platforms and munitions
  • Knowledge of weapon safety systems, including safety-critical interlocks, checks, and arming mechanisms
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex system integration projects and manage external vendors
  • Advanced understanding of and experience with the regulatory environment surrounding explosives and energetic materials; EH&S, licensing, compliance; experience with ATFE, OSHA, and DoD Explosive Safety regulations.
  • Experience with developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), performing incident investigations, root cause analyses, and statistical process controls.
  • Experience and understanding of 3rd party ecosystems; components manufacturers/suppliers, test ranges, logistics providers, etc.
  • Understanding of the customer environment, needs, priorities, and CONOPs.

  • Military EOD or equivalent Explosive Operations background.
  • Hands-on experience with DoD or aerospace/defense missile programs and testing
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments, especially in rapid development or prototyping teams
  • Bachelors' of Engineers in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace preferred
  • Comfortable navigating structured safety certification and validation processes with DoD Weapons Safety Boards
