About The Position

The position involves actively supporting the Company's commitment to safety and its Core Values. The individual will represent the Company with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. Responsibilities include discerning take-off elements of work, assigning them to the appropriate items in the database, and making recommendations to change standard database items to reflect field conditions. The role also involves soliciting subcontract and vendor pricing, evaluating bids, identifying deficiencies in RFx, Scope of Work (SOW), and drawings, and implementing strategies to mitigate these deficiencies. The estimator will develop quantity-based estimates from limited data, monitor project scope, ensure estimates are traceable to defining documents, and prepare bridging documents to demonstrate understanding of cost changes. Participation in estimate, proposal, and constructability reviews is required, along with organizing estimates to meet project needs and estimating requirements for labor, materials, and equipment. The position may require developing preliminary lifting plans and resource-loaded schedules, understanding project cash flow, and performing risk analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • 7+ years of field and/or office experience, including a minimum of 4 years as an estimator or in a related support role.
  • Familiarity with construction work and terminology.
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Ability to visualize finished products from RFx, deliverables, SOW, and drawings.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects independently.
  • Good mathematical comprehension.
  • Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of operating processes at facilities being estimated.
  • Solid technical skills with an understanding of various classifications of estimates.
  • Self-motivated team player willing to mentor and adopt new ideas.
  • Good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Sage estimating and project scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera).
  • Ability to attend Bid Walks and collect pertinent information for proposal and estimate development.
