About The Position

Journey Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In this role, you'll lead estimating efforts for a variety of building projects, helping position the company for success by delivering accurate, competitive, and strategic cost estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 8-10+ years of experience in construction estimating or project management
  • Proven experience managing complex estimates and leading teams
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Deep knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures
  • Ability to synthesize cost data into clear, competitive estimates
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Ediphi, PlanSwift/Togal.AI, Bluebeam, Google Earth, and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a value-driven mindset

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of estimators to ensure consistent, high-quality work
  • Develop and manage construction cost estimates from conceptual through construction documents
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs using electronic estimating tools and models
  • Partner with architects, engineers, and consultants to define scope and pricing assumptions
  • Collaborate with project management, business development, and leadership on bid strategies
  • Lead the preparation and submission of complete and accurate bid proposals
  • Review milestone documents to identify value alternative opportunities
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Conduct risk assessments and support sound pricing decisions
  • Present final estimates and recommendations to owners and internal stakeholders
