About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Estimating, the Senior Estimator is responsible for supporting the estimating department through all phases of the bidding and preconstruction process. Core duties include, but are not limited to: Performing complete project takeoffs, design/build budgets, and cost analyses. Attending job site visits and preconstruction meetings to gather essential information for the bidding process. Verifying quantities and counts of devices, fixtures, components, feeders, and other materials based on project drawings and sketches. Contacting suppliers to obtain pricing, clarification, and information related to components and change orders. Communicating with Architects, Engineers, and Owners to obtain necessary project details. Collaborating directly with Project Managers on change orders and additional work orders. Maintaining and documenting accurate feedback for use during job start-up or transition meetings. Entering project takeoff data into the Conest bidding software system.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating
  • Comprehensive understanding of the entire construction process, including design, budget analysis, document interpretation, design-build, value engineering, and negotiated projects.

  • Strong attention to detail, thoroughness, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with Conest Bidding System or equivalent estimating software.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
