About The Position

This position is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public sector works projects of more than $5 million while ensuring alignment with Graniterock's Strategic Priorities and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience.
  • 10+ years of construction operations and estimating experience.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AGTEK Take-off, and Primavera.
  • Thorough knowledge of HCSS Heavybid Estimating software.
  • Excellent knowledge of civil engineering principles
  • Excellent knowledge of construction principles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to meet multiple tight deadlines
  • knowledge of agency Disadvantaged Business Enterprise requirements and goals
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Comply, understand, and promote corporate and division safety initiatives to ensure "Safety before All Else."
  • Ability to understand various scopes of work based on project plans and specifications including earthwork, structures, underground utilities, site concrete, etc.
  • Analyze and compile estimate data that affect the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location and other factors to ensure a high quality and timely estimate.
  • Review drawings, specifications and proposed project site conditions and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate.
  • Recognize and understand the appropriate environmental policies, rules, and the potential affects to the environment due to operations and take steps necessary to comply with policy/rules and mitigate the effects of operations.
  • Evaluate bidding risks and strategies, present estimate and participate in bid reviews with operations and the estimating team to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct drawing reviews, specifications, and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings to ensure bid communication with the field operations is delivered
  • Develop and maintain business relationships to increase bid opportunities
