About The Position

This position is generally responsible for planning and scheduling heavy industrial engineering projects, monitoring project costs, and/or estimating projects. Work will be performed under minimal supervision. Primary responsibilities include bid administration for complex work, researching construction documents, analyzing specifications, and performing take-offs for steel and buyout items. The role requires communication with customers, vendors, erectors, engineers, architects, and salesmen to ensure design intent and bid requirements are met. The Senior Estimator will prepare complete estimated prices with comprehensive descriptions of included and excluded items, obtain review and approval of estimates, and route them to applicable parties. Additionally, the role involves performing time studies, change order estimates, and assisting in sub-out fabrication.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent is required
10 or more years of relevant industrial experience in planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating
Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices
Extreme attention to detail
Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines
Understanding of existing and potential customer deliverable expectations and preferences
Ability to set priorities
Ability to effectively discuss and correspond with engineering disciplines and/or contractors to ascertain and understand pertinent information concerning schedules, scopes of work, estimates and/or project costs
Coaching and mentoring skills and experience
Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent organizational skills
Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of efforts
Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all project controls deliverables
Ability to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a man-hour budget for a small project or an area for a larger project
Ability to determine construction material quantities
Experienced in estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of project controls work
Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks
Proficient in the use of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software and Timberline Estimating software
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field
AACE International or Project Management Institute (PMI) certification

Responsibilities

Responsible for bid administration in preparing full estimates on complex work
Research construction documents and analyze specifications
Perform take-off of all steel and buyout items as required and/or obtain quotes on items that are bought out
Communicate with customer, vendors, erectors, engineers, architects and salesmen to ensure the design intent is understood and bid requirements are followed
Prepare a complete estimated price with a comprehensive description of all included and excluded items
Obtain review and approval of estimates prior to submitting and route the estimates to the applicable parties once the bid has been submitted
Perform time studies, change order estimates, and assist in sub-out fabrication as needed
Work overtime and maintain regular, punctual attendance
