About The Position

As a Senior Estimator in Nashville, TN, at Garney Construction, you will ensure that the estimate includes the cost, time, materials, labor, and equipment required for the construction projects. You will also manage and plan projects through the design phase, including the tracking of documents and building a project plan. The Senior Estimator will work with their team to ensure efficient and continuous improvements in the estimating process.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of Estimating experience
  • Experience with proposal types in various stages involving the design build, progressive design build, negotiated and CMAR projects
  • Thorough understanding of bonds, insurance, burden, etc. and how they affect bids and company risk/profit
  • Attention to detail
  • Time management skills
  • Experience using computer programs such as Microsoft Suite, Bluebeam, and Google Earth Pro

Responsibilities

  • Track the labor, material, subcontracts, and equipment related to projects
  • Assist in the creation of schedules, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics, means and methods, and constructability to ensure completeness and limit risk
  • Provide conceptual estimates, detailed estimates, detailed self-perform work estimates, and cost models
  • Effectively able to pursue necessary leads and opportunity to meet company goals for yearly gross margin
  • Track bidding documents to ensure plan is being developed
  • Review process with the team for accuracy “refining the estimate”
  • Organize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and final submission to the customer
  • Assist as needed with purchasing and subcontracting of new projects
  • Ability to cost code jobs in a timely manner and to train on cost coding process
  • Able to review front end docs and basic understanding of contracts
  • Participation in alternative delivery proposals, interviews, and pursuits (DB, PDB, CMAR)
  • Participation in value engineering process, cost analysis, and documentation
  • Review specifics, drawings, and other information given
  • Assist in deciding which projects to pursue, bidding strategies, etc.
  • Provide work assignments to the estimating team and ensure accurate estimating information provided is incorporated into the final estimate
  • Act as the lead estimator on multiple projects at once
