About The Position

Reporting to the owner and executive management team, the Concrete/Framing Estimator Manager will oversee the estimation process for our projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and competitiveness in the bidding processes. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in concrete and framing estimation, excellent analytical skills and a proven ability to lead and mentor a team of estimators. This position will primarily be an in-office based role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, preferred, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 – 7 years proven and successful experience in a similar managerial role
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, BlueBeam, MS Project, Excel) is essential
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite of products, required
  • Proficiency in general construction means and methods, materials, industry standards and the ability to read and interpret complex plans and specifications
  • Strong analytical, mathematical and computer skills required
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Astute leadership, time management, attention to detail, accuracy, organizational, planning, effective multi-tasking, problem-solving, analytical, follow-through and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively alone and within a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative team environment
  • Valid CA driver’s license, clean and insurable driving record and own vehicle required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the preparation of accurate and timely cost estimates for our projects, from conception to completion.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs, by reviewing blueprints, specifications and project documents
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and solicit bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Lead, guide and mentor a team of estimators, fostering a collaborative work environment that encourages professional growth and development.
  • Serve as the main point of contact in maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear communication with clients, general contractors, owners, engineers, architects and field personnel.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties that could affect the project budget or timeline, such as changes in regulations, market volatility, contingencies in estimates and propose proactive solutions.
  • Analyze past estimation data to identify trends and improve future estimation accuracy and methodology
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of estimates, bid proposals, contracts, project costs and daily reports.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, vendors and other stakeholders to ensure Alignment between estimates, project goals and execution strategies.
  • Incorporate safety considerations into planning and decision-making processes and ensure all project activities comply with safety practices and building codes.
