Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • 5 years of local estimating experience with a commercial general contractor, 15+ years of estimating experience (preferred)
  • Proven ability to mentor, train, and support less-experienced team members in estimating processes, tools, and best practices.
  • A leadership mindset and the confidence to represent SIRQ professionally with clients, design partners, and subcontractors.
  • Experience across commercial, municipal, higher education, hospitality, and especially multifamily markets.
  • Strong ability to read architectural and engineering drawings.
  • An analytical, detail-oriented mindset with exceptional accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of contracts and construction documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff, RSMeans, SmartBid and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with subcontractors and key industry partners.
  • Staying current on market trends, material pricing, and construction cost fluctuations.
  • Preparing conceptual and budgetary estimates as well as detailed final bid proposals.
  • Ensuring all budget quotes and proposals are complete, accurate, and professionally presented.
  • Partnering with clients and subcontractors to develop project estimates.
  • Collaborating with the internal estimating team on project details and best practices.
  • Reviewing bid documents and ensure full compliance in all prepared estimates.
  • Producing accurate quantity takeoffs and evaluate subcontractor bids/proposals.
  • Reviewing engineering and design specifications to identify cost-saving alternatives (Value Engineering).
  • Supporting the full preconstruction cycle, from early conceptual analysis through final pricing.
  • Serving as a trusted resource to both internal teams and external partners by providing expertise in preconstruction, costing, sequencing, and market analysis.
  • Mentoring, guiding, and supporting junior estimators and project team members, helping develop their technical skills, judgment, and understanding of SIRQ’s standards and values.
