The Senior Erosion Control Coordinator position is a senior-level inspector role within the Storm Water Services (STW) Land Development Section of the City of Charlotte. This position is primarily responsible for reviewing and approving construction plans to ensure compliance with City Storm Water regulations and development standards. The role requires excellent communication skills, independent decision-making abilities, and expert knowledge in land development regulations, stormwater control measures, and erosion control principles and practices. The successful candidate will perform regular inspections of construction sites to ensure adherence to the City's Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Ordinance and the State of North Carolina's General Permit for construction site stormwater discharges (NCG01). In addition to inspections, the coordinator will investigate and remedy development-related drainage complaints, providing professional and technical instruction to consultants, contractors, design professionals, and the public regarding design and regulatory issues. The role also involves reviewing and approving construction site stormwater pollution prevention plans, utilizing electronic permit tracking and plan review software, and performing inspections of constructed permanent Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs). The coordinator will manage outreach and education training series related to soil erosion and sedimentation, contribute to collaborative projects, and serve as a resource and mentor for other Erosion Control Coordinators. This position plays a critical role in supporting the City of Charlotte's mission to improve surface waters and manage storm drainage systems effectively.
