About The Position

As a Senior Equipment Operator, you will operate vehicles and a variety of large equipment in bridge and roadway maintenance, perform minor maintenance and servicing work, and assist in the repair of operating equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
  • Four years of infrastructure construction or maintenance experience.
  • A valid Class 'A' CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is required at time of hire.
  • Knowledge of mathematical calculations and standard safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment and train others.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supervising maintenance activities.
  • Certification in Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) - Intermediate Level.

Responsibilities

  • Operates vehicles and a variety of large equipment including road graders, sewer cleaner, and hydraulic excavators.
  • Performs minor maintenance and servicing work on equipment.
  • Assists in the repair of operating equipment.
  • Cleans and washes equipment.
  • Supervises Department of Corrections inmates crew performing maintenance activities (optional duty).
  • Coordinates, participates, and directs the maintenance activity of the assigned crew.
  • Maintains records of operation and prepares daily paperwork such as crew activity reports.
  • Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments.
  • Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).
  • Trains crew members in the operation of heavy equipment.
