This is an exciting opportunity to join the AME Equipment team at the MECC Brooklyn Center location. In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting the development of production equipment for advanced battery technology. Your project work will encompass new technology integration, equipment enhancements, and redesign initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in implementing electromechanical equipment design.
  • Experience with PLC, HMI and MES systems.
  • Experience writing & executing equipment development documentation, such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and User Requirement Specifications (URS) for new equipment.
  • Experience selecting and working with equipment vendors.
  • Experience in site support or new equipment design/installation for manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of robotics and machine safety systems.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and order equipment that is most appropriate and cost-effective for the manufacture of company products.
  • Oversee the installation, modification, and upgrade of manufacturing equipment, ensuring all activities adhere to Medtronic's strict safety standards and protocols.
  • Identify and execute automation opportunities for equipment and technology implementation, taking ideas from concept through to production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and customize electromechanical systems for manufacturing applications.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • Support equipment mechanization and automation initiatives, guiding projects from business case development to successful implementation on the production floor.
  • Partner with vendors and suppliers to source, qualify, and integrate new equipment and technologies, ensuring alignment with project specifications and safety requirements.
