About you and this role: Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Specialist located in Deer Park, TX. You will lead hub or site EH&S compliance and implementation of the safety management system in one of multiple fields including, for example, environmental, air, water and waste. This role maintains the license to operate for the site or hub. This role requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.
  • A minimum of 3 years of environmental or related experience.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations: Work at heights, climbs stairs and ladders. Wear all required personal protective equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes. Work in an area with hazardous materials.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Safety Assurance: Ensure that all operations, processes, and activities are conducted in compliance with established safety standards and regulations.
  • Risk management: Develop and implement risk control strategies, monitors emerging threats, and ensures alignment with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting Investigations: Lead or support thorough and objective investigations into permit violations to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Leads implementation of global EH&S management systems.
  • Leads EH&S performance improvement of assigned plant(s), site, hub, and business.
  • Coordinates, implements, and optimizes EH&S programs and compliance programs across site/hub.
  • Participates in incident investigations and the corrective action process for EH&S issues and opportunities.
  • Performs central review of all EH&S related documents and submittals to ensure consistency and compliance goals are met.
  • Performs Requirements Management Work Process (RWMP) roles as needed.
  • Manages permits including submittal of permit applications for new and modified equipment, requests for permit changes and submittal of permit renewal applications.
  • Leads environmental performance improvement of assigned plant(s), site, hub and business.
  • Leads regulatory testing as required by permit and regulations or as assigned in your areas.
  • Coaches, trains, and mentors EH&S technicians and operations personnel.
  • Develops, reviews, monitors, and delivers training as appropriate.
  • Acts as Agency Visit protocol implementer.
  • Performs site or plant gap assessments around EH&S work process implementation.
  • Active participation in the local Environmental Specialist network/team meetings to drive consistency, transparency and improvement.
  • Available and engaged in off-hours support for unplanned events and other critical issues as appropriate.
