About The Position

The Senior Environmental Specialist will provide technical and regulatory direction, guidance and implementation of environmental compliance programs for the Electric and Gas operating locations and projects in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or Science.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance programs, environmental engineering or consulting.
  • Experience working with environmental regulations and compliance programs.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Energy Business, Utility operations, construction or related area.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal environmental regulations.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in environmental sciences or engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct supervisory experience or minimum 7 years of contractor oversight.
  • CHMM certification or PE license.
  • Emergency Response and/or Incident Command training.
  • Contractor management and oversight experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assuring facility / project environmental compliance with federal, state and local regulations, permits and corporate guidelines including air, waste, PCBs, water, UST, SARA, SPCC management and environmental audit processes.
  • Prepare procedures relating to compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Develop and prepare reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Independently interface with consultants and regulatory agency representatives to develop or discuss complex environmental issues / projects.
  • Coordinate and guide environmental programs and compliance efforts.
  • Identify and evaluate compliance trends and recommend corrective action or system improvements.
  • Responsible for management and oversight of spill response and remediation including those subject to NJDEP LSRP requirements, both on PSE&G facilities and off-site.
  • Oversee one business unit employee and activities of employees and contractors addressing the environmental impacts of our operations on customer properties.
  • Serve as liaison between project and operating locations on environmental issues.
  • Ensure day to day operations are conducted in an environmentally compliant manner.
  • Monitor and insure adherence to these standards by contractors during routine and project work.
