About The Position

The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) could be the place for you! Under the general direction of the Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisory), the Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) serves as a lead for developing and conducting statewide training sessions for regulators, assessing the effectiveness and enforceability of pesticide use laws and regulations, and analyzing and developing enforceable environmental mitigation strategies. The Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) independently identifies problems, develops courses of action, and conducts complex and scientific analyses and investigations related to regulatory issues and pesticide use enforcement. The Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) may serve as a liaison with other branches in the Department, the County Agricultural Commissioners (CACs), and other local, state, and federal entities. The Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) will demonstrate DPR's organizational values of Accountability, Integrity, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement when carrying out the department's mission and vision.
