The mission of CalEPA is to restore, protect and enhance the environment and to ensure public health, environmental quality, and economic vitality. This position presents an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team dedicated to protecting public health and the environment. Under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) performs a variety of tasks related to the statewide development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of the CalARP program and the HMBP program, including the Area Plan program. The Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) is a lead staff that conducts inspection and enforcement related duties, provides training and technical support, conducts rulemaking activities, and performs evaluations of Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPAs) and/or participating agencies (PAs) for the implementation of the HMBP and CalARP programs. Additionally, the Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) job duties include, but are not limited to, technical research, responding to statutory and regulatory inquiries, aiding in the development of policies and procedures, and providing general support for statewide program development, oversight, and implementation.
