The Department of Water Resources' (DWR's) Division of Engineering's (DOE's) Environmental Coordination Section is a team of professionals dedicated to supporting the environmental planning and compliance aspects of DWR's construction projects. Our team works with many Divisions within DWR on a variety of large public civil-works projects related to water storage, water transportation, flood control, environmental protection, species conservation, habitat restoration, and recreation. Under the general direction of the Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisor), the incumbent performs a range of duties involving: California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Environmental permitting (i.e., the Federal Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and California Fish and Game Code) Environmental site assessments, compliance inspections, site visits, and environmental monitoring, Managing consultants and A&E Task Order management, Coordinating with design and construction staff to address environmental issues, and Incorporating environmental measures into construction contract plans and specifications. This position requires a practical working knowledge of the Division of Engineering's (DOE's) design and construction standards and specifications to provide technical environmental support services to the various DOE design branches. The incumbent also serves as the environmental subject matter expert for DOE's Architectural and Engineering (A&E) contract program.
