About The Position

GZA is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager, who is a Licensed Site Professional (LSP), with at least 15 years of environmental engineering/consulting experience to join our Providence, Rhode Island team. This role is responsible for managing environmental investigation and remediation projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, within scope, and on budget. The Senior Environmental Project Manager will serve as a primary client contact, lead technical execution, mentor junior staff, and represent GZA throughout proposal, contract, and project performance phases. The ideal candidate is a seasoned environmental professional who values technical excellence, strong client relationships, and collaboration within a One Company environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology/Hydrogeology, or Environmental Sciences (advanced degree a plus)
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant environmental consulting or engineering experience
  • Licensed Site Professional (LSP) with strong familiarity with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan and applicable regulations
  • Proven experience managing environmental investigation, compliance, and remediation projects
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, organizational, and professional judgment skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a record of high-quality work products
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
  • Strong understanding of field sampling and investigative protocols; willingness to perform fieldwork as needed
  • Experience preparing well-written technical reports within budget (construction bid specification experience a plus)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental data management software
  • Completion of 40-hour and 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental site investigation and remediation projects from planning through completion
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and contractual/financial matters
  • Serve as the primary client contact and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, work plans, and regulatory submittals
  • Perform and oversee data analysis, interpretation, and calculations related to sampling, remediation performance, and regulatory compliance
  • Mentor and support project engineers and scientists
  • Conduct and oversee fieldwork, including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling and remediation system operation and maintenance, as needed
  • Support business development through networking, professional organizations, client meetings, and marketing initiatives
