Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, biology, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years managing permitting, and compliance for new developments.
  • 5+ years environmental construction oversight.
  • 3+ years erosion and sediment control management during construction.

Nice To Haves

  • Data center or critical infrastructure construction, and/or risk assessment experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in multiple states within the US.
  • Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions.
  • Experience with Smartsheets or other project management software.
  • Up to 50% domestic travel.
  • Experience working with large teams on a diverse slate of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies for the construction and operation of AWS data centers and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical assistance and risk management support to construction managers and partner teams, and promote and manage environmental compliance during construction, specifically focusing on protection of sensitive environmental resources, wetland permit compliance and construction stormwater NPDES permit compliance (including erosion and sediment control).
  • Prepare for data center operations.
  • Engage regularly throughout the construction phase with multiple AWS stakeholders, including Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Water, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operational teams, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors.
  • Assess environmental risks and requirements and develop mitigations and strategies to support site-specific project delivery.
  • Manage environmental compliance during construction, specifically focusing on wetlands permits and erosion and sediment control.
  • Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners.
  • Coordinate with partner teams including Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others to manage construction and operational constraints.
  • Develop site development strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines.
  • Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations.
  • Develop, manage, and track metrics to evaluate project success.
