About The Position

AECOM is seeking highly motivated candidates for a Senior Environmental Program/Client Manager to help advance the growth of our Environmental Planning & Permitting Practice in the northern California region. This hybrid position is based in our Sacramento, CA office. The successful candidate would be responsible for oversight of technical specialists and project teams to ensure successful delivery of multi-disciplinary environmental planning projects and programs in the Sacramento region, and potentially elsewhere in northern California. The role involves generating work through proactive marketing and business development, engaging with our expanding pool of public and private sector clients, as well as coordination with and oversight of our teams to prepare winning proposals. AECOM is seeking well-networked candidates with a demonstrated ability to understand our clients’ most important challenges and opportunities, manage environmental planning projects and programs, develop proposals that speak to our differentiating qualities, and prepare deliverables that anticipate our clients’ needs. Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree.
  • 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with expertise in preparing and overseeing the development of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents; preparing and overseeing regulatory permitting documents; and pursuing marketing and business development opportunities related to environmental planning and permitting.
  • Valid driver's license is required for this role.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with expertise in preparing and overseeing the development of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents; preparing and overseeing regulatory permitting documents; and pursuing marketing and business development opportunities related to environmental planning and permitting.
  • Experience in marketing and business development efforts in pursuit of new projects and contracts.
  • Strong network of and experience with public sector clients, specifically in the Sacramento region.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance projects or programs, requiring coordination of interdisciplinary teams, management of budget(s), and meeting schedule(s).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, exceptional writing and communication skills demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients (in-person and virtually), and an ability to ensure performance of internal technical teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, and flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of competence and experience in working with teams, clients, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Client/Program Manager for key clients and/or projects, which includes responsibilities for scope development and adherence, financial management and reporting, subconsultant oversight, quality standards, and technical staff direction.
  • Lead or support key pursuits and manage and develop client relationships and business opportunities with public agencies and the private sector.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams in preparing environmental documents in compliance with CEQA and associated regulatory/permitting processes (e.g., Clean Water Act 404/401, federal and state Endangered Species Acts, National Historic Preservation Act).
  • Represent AECOM in the market through industry events, client engagements, and conferences.
  • Provide advice, mentor, and enhance the professional development of other members of our team.
