About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to join our dynamic and collaborative Planning team! This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of environmental projects, from simple exemptions to complex Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs). You will play a key role in guiding clients through the CEQA and NEPA processes, developing innovative solutions to today’s environmental challenges. We’re seeking someone who enjoys mentoring and thrives in a team environment of dedicated environmental professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field (Environmental Studies, English, Geography, Biology, Geology, Environmental Science)
  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience with researching, analyzing impacts, and writing sections of environmental reports, including but not limited to notices of exemptions, initial studies, negative and mitigated negative declarations, and environmental impact reports, as well as increasing responsibilities in the management of projects and/or staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
  • Understanding of land use and planning laws and regulations as it relates to preparation and implementation of CEQA and NEPA.
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and develop effective working relationships with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and lead project meetings related to environmental requirements efficiently and cohesively for the project team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess strong time management, team collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to present information in an easy-to-understand manner and speak persuasively about relevant topics to colleagues, clients, agency staff, teaming partners, and/or other project stakeholders and the public.
  • Proven ability to write documents, including technical information, using appropriate grammar, punctuation, and spelling for concise readability and clarity
  • Experience working as a key technical leader, deputy project manager, or project manager on environmental planning projects, and experience working collaboratively with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills
  • Possess strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and/or experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a variety of projects and teams, including subconsultants and multi-disciplinary teams, and tracking schedules and budgets appropriately
  • Prepare environmental documents, as needed
  • Coordinate public noticing and document distribution
  • Provide guidance to environmental staff, engineering teams, and clients on environmental compliance requirements and strategies
  • Review of environmental documents for quality control, including providing meaningful feedback, as needed
  • Prepare proposals, including scopes of work, schedules, and budgets
  • Provide presentations and/or training to staff and clients
  • Represent the Company and clients with federal, state, and local agencies and entities
  • Participate in business development activities, as needed
