About The Position

A skilled EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) Senior Technician is responsible for playing a leading role in the development, implementation, and oversight of EHS programs within an organization. They ensure compliance with relevant regulations, promote a strong safety culture, and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • Four plus years related manufacturing experience and/or training
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Knowledge of Industrial hygiene, environmental compliance and OSHA PELs & ACGIH TLVs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or touch.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Ability to climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Oversees the development of site EHS plans, including budgetary requirements, and coordinates plan implementation.
  • Provides technical EHS support and guidance for ongoing operations and new equipment and processes.
  • Conducts regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Reviews and creates machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Manages contractor safety programs and ensures adherence to EHS requirements.
  • Maintains and tracks plant EHS hazard identification programs.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
  • Develops and delivers EHS training programs to employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Organizes and tracks EHS training records and attendance.
  • Promotes a proactive safety culture through engagement and participation initiatives.
  • Leads or participates in site safety committees to drive engagement.
  • Leads investigations of incidents, injuries, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyzes incident data to identify trends and recommend preventative measures.
  • Oversee corrective actions related to EHS issues and tracks their completion.
  • Maintains accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training sessions, and regulatory compliance documents.
  • Prepares and submits EHS reports and permit applications to regulatory agencies or corporate programs.
  • Maintains the chemical inventory and SDS files.
  • Assists in gathering data for environmental permits and manages universal and hazardous waste collection points.
  • Supports environmental management programs, including waste reduction, pollution prevention, energy efficiency, and water conservation.
  • Conducts or coordinates environmental sampling activities.
