About The Position

As a Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer, you will lead, develop and implement environmental safety procedures, training programs, and compliance initiatives across the site. You will maintain all EHS site permits and licenses, organize and participate in safety audits and inspections and serve as the Site Safety Manager reporting to the EH&S Site Head, while working in close collaboration to the Site Director. You will drive the execution of site-wide environmental health and safety programs at the Site. Additionally, you will travel between local MilliporeSigma sites to perform your job duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or other Public Health degree.
  • 8+ years EHS experience working in Biological or Chemical laboratory settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, NFPA, Biosafety, DOT/IATA, cGMP, laser and radiation safety as well as other related safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience in GMP-regulated environments and supporting EHS programs in pharmaceutical, biotech, or manufacturing settings.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, root cause analysis, and leading incident investigations.
  • Experience in safety audits, inspections, and hazard mitigation.
  • Industry certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, OSHA 30, or HAZWOPER (24/40-hour).
  • Experience with chemical inventory systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and preparing/delivering EHS training materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate across departments and levels.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement risk reduction methods while ensuring compliance with environmental, occupational hygiene, and safety regulations.
  • Lead and support Risk Assessments, safety inspections, and emergency preparedness activities across the site.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by providing EHS training, education on workplace risks, and leadership in biosafety, laser, radiation, and RF safety programs.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
  • Collaborate with site management, personnel, contractors, and corporate EHS professionals to align practices, standardize processes, and support wastewater facility operations.
  • Serve as local EHS subject matter expert for MilliporeSigma departments, hazardous waste operations, and capital projects.
  • Develop, manage, and report on EHS programs, audits, data analysis, and compliance with state, federal, and corporate standards.
  • Partner with EHS Site Head to set annual goals, budgets, and drive excellence in EHS performance.
