Role description: Arcadis is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join the Integrated Sustainability and Compliance (ISC) business line in Middletown, CT. As a Senior Environmental Engineer in ISC, you will play a vital role in supporting environmental compliance programs. You will lead or support water, wastewater, stormwater, and compliance projects. Furthermore, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the development of technical plans. Overall, the role involves practical application of environmental compliance and fosters professional growth opportunities. As part of our ISC team, you will directly support our client's ambition to enhance their operational excellence by reducing incidents and improving regulatory compliance, operational performance, culture, and asset value. This role will require travel, with most travel consisting of field work (site visits) carried out within driving distance of Middletown, CT; however, occasional overnight travel (up to 25% of time) within the region or nationally to respond to the needs of Arcadis’s clients will be required.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 2+ years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field.
  • PE license in Connecticut (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and design software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Visio

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage water/wastewater/stormwater treatment design, conveyance, and construction, and permitting projects.
  • Design and implement stormwater control measures.
  • Support environmental compliance policies, programs, procedures, and management systems.
  • Perform business development activities (e.g., proposal development, client interface, grow accounts).
  • Investigate wastewater permit exceedances and non-compliance.
  • Collection of environmental samples and analysis of data.
  • Review, prepare, and revise individual applications and general wastewater permit registrations and associated documentation.
  • Review deliverables and provide PE stamp on technical plans (e.g., Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, Inspection Reports).
  • Support proposal preparation for multiple clients
  • Work both independently and with a team to provide our clients with solutions to their environmental compliance needs.
  • Support Arcadis team members in producing high quality work products for our clients.
  • Mentor junior environmental engineers and scientists.
