Brown and Caldwell is currently looking for a Civil/Environmental Engineer with project management experience in Water and Wastewater Treatment to join our growing team in San Jose, CA. In this role you will manage water and wastewater treatment planning, design, and services during construction for a wide variety of water related projects within our Northern California operation. You will be responsible for developing detailed engineering plans and specifications for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and conveyance systems. You will also be responsible for leading small design and technical teams. Developing Client relationships and working with Clients to better serve their needs is also an expectation for this role.

Requirements

  • BS. or B.S. degree in civil or environmental engineering with a minimum of 6 years of related experience in the water and wastewater treatment and conveyance field. Engineers with other degrees such as Chemical or Mechanical may be considered if they have strong experience in municipal or industrial water treatment facility planning and design.
  • EIT is required and ability to obtain a P.E in the state of California within the next 6 months is preferred
  • Experience leading or supporting competitive sales efforts with municipal clients is required.
  • Experience managing and delivering water and wastewater treatment and conveyance related planning and design projects in the role as a project manager is required.
  • Strong written communication skills and experience producing technical reports.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and recommend improvements to water and wastewater treatment processes
  • Perform treatment plant process modeling
  • Perform plant and system hydraulic evaluations
  • Support the development of strategies for the water and wastewater market sector in Northern California.
  • Lead planning efforts in water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping, storage and conveyance
  • Delegate, sequence and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers performing designs of water treatment systems, wastewater treatment systems, pump stations, tanks, reservoirs, or conveyance systems.
  • Assist with and lead business development efforts including positioning, pursuits, and Client management services.
  • Support BC’s quality control and quality assurance process
  • Lead client and internal meetings to advance project work as an effective communicator
  • Prepare written reports and technical memorandums to document analyses and recommendations.
  • Participate in office work groups and organizations to benefit the company’s knowledge of issues and to understand client needs.
