About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer/Scientist to provide environmental program and acquisition support services to the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC). The selected candidate will serve as a technical subject matter expert supporting environmental compliance programs, acquisition planning activities, and contract oversight for environmental projects at Air Force installations. This position supports environmental program management, development of environmental compliance scopes of work, and technical review of acquisition and program documentation. The role requires strong experience with Air Force environmental compliance programs, cost estimating, and environmental program planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Toxicology, or related physical or life science discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of Air Force environmental compliance experience.
  • Experience developing Air Force environmental compliance scopes of work.
  • Experience supporting Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs).
  • Experience with environmental compliance programs such as: o Air Quality compliance o Environmental sampling plans o Environmental restoration or compliance programs o Fence-to-Fence environmental programs or similar initiatives.
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
  • Experience supporting government environmental program management or acquisition support activities.
  • Ability to obtain required federal background investigation (Position of Trust / NACLC).
  • Must be able to work core hours aligned with federal program schedules.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and receive access to Hill AFB.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in environmental science or related field.
  • HAZWOPER certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Registered Environmental Manager (REM) or Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP)
  • Experience supporting federal environmental programs, particularly within the U.S. Air Force.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise to government program managers and acquisition teams.
  • Participate in Integrated Project Team (IPT) meetings and program coordination activities.
  • Provide technical interpretation and guidance on environmental systems, compliance requirements, and environmental program implementation.
  • Assist with development and review of environmental compliance scopes of work.
  • Review and assist with preparation of Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs).
  • Provide technical support during evaluation of contractor technical proposals and cost submissions.
  • Support development and review of acquisition documentation and requirements packages.
  • Provide recommendations related to environmental program implementation and regulatory compliance.
  • Review contractor performance documentation and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support program budgeting, funding coordination, and cost estimate reviews.
  • Participate in project meetings and occasional site visits.
