About The Position

The Senior Environmental and Geotechnical Consultant is a seasoned Professional Geologist (PG) responsible for leading complex environmental and geotechnical investigations, managing high-value client relationships, and supporting the development of a new service branch within the firm. This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, strong technical leadership, and a well-established professional presence in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. The consultant will oversee Phase II ESAs, subsurface investigations, foundation evaluations, geotechnical drilling programs, and deliverables requiring advanced geological interpretation. The role may also support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments when needed. The position includes responsibility for business development, client acquisition, and project leadership, with the autonomy to help build and expand the company’s environmental and geotechnical service offerings. This is a high impact, externally facing position suited for a senior technical professional ready to grow a service line and mentor emerging staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field.
  • Active Professional Geologist (PG) licensure (Texas or ability to obtain by reciprocity).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in environmental and geotechnical consulting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in subsurface investigations, foundation evaluations, and geotechnical engineering concepts.
  • Established client relationships and market presence in the DFW region.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead field programs, supervise drilling operations, and interpret complex subsurface conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Experience launching or scaling a new service area or business line.
  • Prior responsibility for revenue generation, client acquisition, or business development strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced environmental and geotechnical investigations, including subsurface characterization, soil/rock logging, groundwater evaluations, and foundation engineering assessments.
  • Independently prepare, review, and seal technical reports such as geotechnical evaluations, Phase II ESA reports, corrective action plans, and soil/rock interpretive analyses.
  • Assist with the preparation, review, or senior-level oversight of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments as project workload and client due-diligence needs require.
  • Develop scopes of work, fee proposals, and project schedules for geotechnical, environmental, and remediation projects.
  • Manage client accounts, maintain long-standing industry relationships, and cultivate new business opportunities within the DFW region.
  • Oversee drilling operations, lab testing programs, geotechnical analyses, slope stability reviews, settlement assessments, and pavement evaluations.
  • Supervise and mentor junior geologists, environmental scientists, and engineering staff; provide technical QA/QC.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and environmental teams to provide integrated project solutions.
  • Represent the company during client presentations, regulatory discussions, and industry events.
  • Support strategic growth by developing processes, service lines, and operational frameworks for expanding environmental and geotechnical capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including TCEQ, EPA, and applicable geotechnical and environmental standards.
