About The Position

The Senior Enterprise Application Specialist at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) will play a critical role in supporting NASA's flagship Space Telescope missions. This position focuses on enhancing the DevOps team's capabilities to manage the complexities of modern software development, particularly through the design and implementation of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) pipelines. The specialist will ensure that infrastructure and processes are optimized for scalability, reliability, and security, enabling effective collaboration across development and operations teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python, Java, Node JS) and IaC tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes).
  • Experience in configuring, tuning, and monitoring cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Experience in developing automation tooling and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in building highly available, resilient, high performing cloud-based application platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification or equivalent experience.
  • Skills in troubleshooting issues and monitoring cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support the DevOps team in addressing software development demands and complexities.
  • Design and implement efficient Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) pipelines.
  • Optimize infrastructure, automation, and processes for scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Lead cloud security automation initiatives.
  • Leverage DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines to implement robust automation and monitoring systems for AWS cloud applications.
  • Enable teams to collaborate effectively across development and operations.
