The highest level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification is the Lead Technologist. This job is not part of a standard progression. The job requires a business case justification substantiating the necessity of a Lead role in conjunction with the enterprise Professional titling guidelines. Lead Engineering Technologists provide technical expertise to solve complex problems and utilize the leadership skills necessary to oversee the training and development of the hierarchy. Incumbents engage in strategic oversight and management of work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. This position focuses and engages on some of the largest, most impactful residential development projects in the Duke Energy service area. The primary focus of the role is managing processes and preparing work orders to achieve success for capital improvement residential projects which includes off-site improvements, unit infrastructure, and streetlights. Maintaining relationships with land developers and home builders through timely execution of their project work plans is a must. This position is accountable for all aspects of residential project work and work order preparation to energize the communities we serve and empower the success of our customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND six (6)+ years minimum required related experience.
  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND eight (8)+ years minimum required related experience.
  • In lieu of degree(s) and experience listed above, High School/GED AND 12+ years minimum required related experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND nine (9)+ years minimum required related experience for Lead Engineering Technologist.
  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND 11+ years minimum required related experience for Lead Engineering Technologist.
  • In lieu of degree(s) and experience listed above, High School/GED and 15+ years minimum required related experience for Lead Engineering Technologist.

  • Be available for and perform major and minor storm restoration duties.

  • Independently reviews and prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Coaches and mentors other Engineering Technologists and Engineers.
