About The Position

Join the team that is redefining how Hinge Health connects with our members. You will not just manage a team; you will build the "nervous system" of our member experience. We are moving beyond generic notifications to create "delightful interactions"—leveraging proprietary data and predictive models to reach members at the right time, with the right message, through the right channel. You will lead the technical strategy for a multidisciplinary engine that powers millions of nudges, emails, and in-app notifications, directly influencing member adherence and health outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of total software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in distributed systems or backend services.
  • 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams, specifically leading a mix of Software Engineers and Data Scientists/ML Engineers.
  • Scale & Reliability: Proven track record of building and deploying high-scale, member-facing systems that support thousands to millions of Daily Active Users.
  • Cloud Native: Deep experience delivering services in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Nice To Haves

  • Communication Systems Expertise: Deep experience building member-facing platforms (SMS, Push, Email) and familiarity with tools like Twilio, Braze, or internal notification engines.
  • ML Integration: Experience leading teams that deploy ML models into production to drive business logic (e.g., personalization, recommendations).
  • Future-Ready Tech: Interest or experience in Conversational AI/LLMs as a channel for user interaction.
  • Regulated Industry Knowledge: Experience working within healthcare (HIPAA) or other environments involving sensitive user data.

Responsibilities

  • Dive deep into our current communications stack and build trust with your hybrid team across San Francisco, Montreal, and Bangalore.
  • Audit our existing notification infrastructure and ship your first set of optimizations to improve deliverability and latency.
  • Partner with Machine Learning Scientists to deploy the first generation of "context-aware" nudges, integrating predictive models that determine the optimal channel (SMS vs. Email vs. Push) for each member.
  • Establish a robust CI/CD and monitoring framework for our ML-driven workflows.
  • Architect and scale the next-generation Unified Communications Platform, capable of supporting conversational AI and LLM-driven interactions.
  • Own the long-term technical roadmap, transforming Proactive Comms from a delivery mechanism into a strategic engagement engine that scales to millions of daily active users.
