As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you'll be part of our T&O team working as a hybrid employee. You'll get to evaluate, approve, and implement engineering change orders. This position requires knowledge of electromechanical assemblies and/or Battery Packs. You will work with cross functional teams to qualify alternate battery cells, electronic modules and other components-based battery packs along with second source development for subcomponents. You will perform structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis packages, thermal analysis and thermal management for high power electronic assemblies, and work with the model shop and suppliers to get the prototypes, attending product builds at contract manufacturers. You will also work with various disciplines inside the organization such as ID, Marketing, Manufacturing compliance, safety and purchasing to understand design considerations and Product CTQs. Your responsibilities will include performing tolerance stack ups, DFMEA's, PFMEA's, process control plans, release Engineering Changes, designing test plans, analyzing results from advanced testing, and managing the product development cycle in the PLM system.

  • Evaluate, approve, and implement engineering change orders.
  • Work with cross functional teams to qualify alternate battery cells, electronic modules and other components-based battery packs.
  • Perform structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis packages.
  • Perform thermal analysis and thermal management for high power electronic assemblies.
  • Work with the model shop and suppliers to get the prototypes.
  • Attend product builds at contract manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with various disciplines inside the organization to understand design considerations and Product CTQs.
  • Perform tolerance stack ups, DFMEA's, PFMEA's, process control plans, and release Engineering Changes.
  • Design test plans and analyze results from advanced testing.
  • Design using 3D modeling techniques and manage BOM from prototype to mass production.
  • Work closely with design teams to help launch time critical products.
  • Write test plans and assist in the development of fixtures and test equipment.
  • Utilize lab test equipment to conduct testing.
  • Employ Design of Experiments and other scientific methods to develop/qualify processes.
  • B.S. or equivalent in Mechanical engineering discipline, MSME preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in product development of Li Ion Battery packs and Battery Management Systems.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software, CATIA V5 preferred.
  • Familiarity with Printed Circuit Board design desired.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes for various electronic and other products.
  • Demonstrated ability to design plastic and metallic components.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet schedule and cost commitments.
  • Excellent communication skills to deal with customers and suppliers.
  • Supplier development for key components and working with contract manufacturers.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stacks ups, Failure analysis.
  • Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
