About The Position

Acuren is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Associate to perform stress analysis and develop run/repair/replace recommendations on industrial fixed equipment. They will work with the Acuren Engineering team based out of Leander/Houston, Texas area, and travel to industrial facilities as needed to gather equipment data and coordinate/direct equipment inspections. This will be a Hybrid role. Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in fixed equipment inspection, design, or analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering
  • Excellent working knowledge of solid mechanics
  • Excellent working knowledge of ASME BPVC, Section VIII, Division 2, Part 5 (or equivalent code for design by analysis utilizing finite element methods)
  • Working knowledge of API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, Fitness-For-Service code requirements
  • Working knowledge of Abaqus, Ansys, or equivalent finite element code
  • Basic knowledge of non-destructive inspection techniques
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31 and API 653 codes preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineering License preferred
  • Strong foundation in fracture mechanics preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform solid mechanics calculations for fixed equipment to determine if equipment meets code requirements
  • Build, analyze, and review finite element models to evaluate pressure equipment for protection against plastic collapse, local failure, buckling, and fatigue
  • Develop inspection scopes and review NDE results in support of performing fitness for service assessments
  • Perform calculations and oversee CAD work to support repairs and alterations to pressure equipment
  • Prepare engineering reports documenting the approach, methods used, results, and recommendations
  • Maintain excellent communication lines with team, internal clients, and external clients
