About The Position

Qualcomm is a leading provider of wireless and wired technologies for the mobile, networking, computing and consumer electronics markets. The connectivity group within Qualcomm focuses on creating WiFi technologies that connect and empower people in ways that are elegant and accessible to all. The position to be filled develops SW/FW for the WiFi wireless (802.11) chip products with emphasis on hardware related control and configuration SW, The responsibilities MAC and PHY layer FW, and the testing environment SW. In addition, this role leverages AI‑assisted development and data‑driven techniques to improve firmware quality, performance optimization, and debugging efficiency. The engineer collaborates closely with AI tools and workflows to accelerate development cycles, enhance issue diagnosis, and improve coverage across pre‑silicon and post‑silicon platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with embedded software architecture and development
  • Proven hands-on experience and debugging skills in the lab
  • Good communication skills across engineering disciplines, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of 802.11 standard and software
  • Past wireless (MAC, PHY, RF) development experience a plus
  • Experience collaborating with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, static analysis, test creation, log parsing, and performance analysis)
  • Ability to apply machine‑learning‑assisted or data‑driven approaches to firmware validation, debugging, and optimization
  • Familiarity with integrating AI tools into firmware workflows to improve productivity, test coverage, and issue triage
  • Experience using AI to assist with documentation, design reviews, and cross‑team collaboration
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering with SW bias, or relevant engineering field with strong SW focus
  • Very good programming skills in C
  • Good understanding of SW methodologies (e.g. object oriented, C++, abstraction, SW engineering process)
  • Experience in scripting with Python, Perl
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Passion for hardware related programming (control, configuration, driver)
  • Exposure to various operating systems such as Linux, Windows, and Android

Responsibilities

  • Design, development, unit testing, and documentation of WLAN firmware for SoC platforms
  • Firmware brings‑up and feature validation on new silicon
  • Performance optimization and reliability improvement of firmware subsystems
  • Bug analysis and resolution during pre‑silicon and post‑silicon verification
  • Use of AI‑assisted tools for code analysis, test generation, log analysis, and root‑cause investigation
  • Collaboration with cross‑functional teams using data‑driven and AI‑enabled workflows to improve product quality and development efficiency
