The customer Services Package Refurb & Upgrades (PRU) Business Unit has seen tremendous growth in the last two years. If you have wondered how Solar Turbines supports ~15,000 existing packages in the field and upgrades equipment over the years, this position is a great fit for you! We are team of over 150 Engineers of various disciplines. You will design mechanical solutions that support upgrading older systems to the latest standard for various packages running in the field. The PRU Retrofits and Upgrades Mechanical team consists of approximately 20+ Engineers that work extremely well together. The PRU Principal Mechanical Engineer position is based in Customer Services Package Refurbishment & Upgrades (PRU) group and will be responsible for executing Sales Orders (Controls Retrofits and System Upgrades).

Requirements

  • Educational Background: A BS degree in Mechanical or equivalent.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing; and bring assigned tasks to clear and concise closure.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Willingness to multitask and handle complicated and challenging projects efficiently.
  • Technical Excellence: Experience interpreting Engineering drawings, researching Bills of Materials, designing modules and installation kits including brackets, piping, hoses etc. using Creo Parametric. Experience using Windchill, Baan 5C.
  • Familiarity with Solar Packages & Hydro-Mechanical Systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Solar Package & prior experience executing Sales Orders, Standard Product development, Manufacturing or Field experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering layouts and drawings and apply this information to design and prepare package system layouts.
  • Develop fabrication drawings for package frames, pipe assemblies, and support brackets.
  • Ability to work interactively with installation and commissioning personnel to ensure customer downtime is minimized during project execution.
  • Ability to resolve conflicting project requirements through knowledge of product design criteria.
  • Interaction with equipment suppliers, third party engineering firms, and the customer is also expected.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt with process improvement experience.
  • Familiarity with Built in Quality (BIQ)
  • Experience with the following software tools is highly desirable: Creo Parametric
