Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, building, and testing mechanical/thermal devices, including tools. Engages in design work for models and drawings for revisions of current products and new product design. The employee will work in close collaboration with the Production team to ensure quality control, inspections, and documentation. This is a hands-on role and will be frequently out working with our products on the warehouse and production floors, assisting with crash tests, and other work outside in the field. Essential Functions: · Designs, develops, and tests mechanical components, systems, and products using engineering principles, CAD software, and prototyping techniques. · Performs engineering analysis, simulations, and calculations to evaluate the performance, safety, and reliability of mechanical systems and components. · Conducts research to identify new technologies, materials, and methods that can be applied to improve product design, performance, and efficiency. · Plans, coordinates, and manages engineering projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. · Identifies and troubleshoots mechanical problems, defects, or failures, and implements effective solutions to address them. · Collaborates with the department to optimize production processes, improve manufacturing efficiency, and ensure product quality and consistency. · Develops and implements quality control measures, testing procedures, and inspection protocols to ensure that products meet design specifications and regulatory requirements. · Creates technical documentation, reports, and specifications detailing design requirements, test results, and project progress. · Ensures compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and safety requirements in the design, testing, and manufacturing of products. · Interacts with various government agencies at the state and federal level.
