Collins Engineers has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineer (Waterfront/Structural) to join the team in our East Greenwich, Rhode Island, office . The ideal candidate is a technically accomplished engineer with demonstrated experience in the evaluation and structural design of waterfront infrastructure associated with ports, marinas, and coastal facilities. They offer deep expertise in applying engineering standards to complex waterfront projects, serving as a trusted technical resource. With strong analytical skills and a commitment to quality, technical excellence, and innovation, they lead teams in developing resilient design solutions in challenging marine environments. This role contributes to the overall success of the organization by performing the following duties: Typical Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to their area of expertise. Provides technical engineering expertise to project managers, engineers, and/or clients to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions. Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field and/or design issues. Provides expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices. Serves as the technical specialist on engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications. Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications. Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work. Assists in proposal preparation, project scoping, and estimating project costs. Assists in coordinating project schedules and timely completion of projects. Provides technical leadership to project teams and support staff. Supervises all staff necessary to complete assignments. Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety. Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours. Stays active in technical societies. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • 12 years or more progressive experience in project engineering.
  • Experience with the evaluation and structural design of infrastructure including, but not limited to, waterfront structures, ports and/or marinas.
  • Maintains competency in and serves as major firm resource in field of expertise.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with public agency, federal agency, port authority, and municipal clients a plus.
