The position requires a highly skilled engineer with extensive experience in relay protection or substation system testing. The role focuses on ensuring the reliability and safety of power systems through rigorous testing and adherence to industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Conduct testing and analysis of relay protection and substation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) CIP Standards.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and support Con Edison's corporate values and mission.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to testing procedures and results.
  • Participate in information exchange meetings including EPRI and NATF.
  • Respond to company emergencies and perform System Emergency Assignments as needed.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in relay protection or substation system testing, or a Master's Degree in Engineering with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient expertise in IEC 61850 protection schemes.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VISIO.
  • Ability to learn and apply new topics effectively.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence others and champion change.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions.
  • Knowledge of Protection Suite and/or various relay software.
  • Acute knowledge of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) CIP Standards.
