Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/ The Senior Engineer, Project Engineering serves as the specialist for all facility support and capital project planning for our highly automated MedTech North America Distribution Center, located in Mooresville, IN. As the Senior Project & Facilities Engineer you will work closely with J&J supply chain partners, 3PL Distribution providers, Facility/Utility Service providers, Finance, and corporate centers of excellence to plan, fund, and actualize site construction and automated equipment projects. You will develop programs to monitor the reliability and compliance of facility systems and maintenance thereof, and drive key initiatives that deliver maintenance excellence, safety improvement, and capital spending alignment. Portfolio Leadership: We have an active and evolving portfolio of projects across the facility. As Facility Engineer, you will partner across functional boundaries to compose business rationale for new facility investments and capital appropriations, and facilitate ongoing review of spending commitments to active projects. Systems Management: Advance systems performance through the ownership and supervision of annual testing for key building systems, including fire protection, environmental monitoring, building management, HVAC, electrical, and data center. Compliance Management: We have a compliance and customer first approach that produces positive outcomes. In this role, you will build proactive working relationships with external service contractors to ensure they understand our core values and consistently deliver on contracts, services, construction, and equipment that are safe, fit for use, and in alignment to J&J standards, cGMP, and regulatory requirements. The Facilities Engineer will effectively engage with team members on a range of projects that optimize warehouse processes, enhance compliance profile, decrease environmental footprint, and drive sustainable safety improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent University degree required; focused degree in Engineering or Facilities Management preferred. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum four (4) years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with industrial building and equipment maintenance and facilities management
  • Solid understanding of cGMP, FDA CFR 820, ISO-13485, ISO-13849, NFPA, and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and schematics
  • Proven ability to write effectively, rationalize conclusions and recommendations, and compliantly document for regulatory bodies
  • User experience with facility automation systems (BMS, EMS, fire panel, SCADA)
  • Data analysis and presentation experience, with advanced proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Equipment qualification and process validation experience
  • Strong project management experience (capital and non-capital)

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in the pharmaceutical or medical device regulated manufacturing/distribution industry
  • Working knowledge of Maximo, EtQ, Planisware, SAP, Power BI, AutoCAD, Windchill, and Vaisala software
  • Experience implementing facility systems upgrades for cyber security robustness
  • Familiarity with ABB, Schneider, & Siemens controls
  • Experience integrating and sustaining Total Productive Maintenance and Asset Effectiveness practices in an operational setting
  • Cold chain facility maintenance experience
  • Experience supervising the work and direction of junior engineers or technicians and reinforcing site-specific safety and industrial hygiene requirements

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans for facility projects including, but not limited to, facility control system upgrades, automation, network capability enhancements, expansions, and fire protection systems changes
  • Responsible for tracking annual capital projects portfolio plan versus spend, and proactively engaging project leads to ensure spending commitments are met
  • Manage mechanical/electrical/waste management supplier relationships and support contracts, and oversee external contractors performing facility work on-site to ensure construction quality, safety, and consistency with local codes and corporate standards
  • Prepare, arrange, and coordinate contracts for specialized facilities maintenance and calibration work, including preparing purchase orders, being responsible for execution, approving invoices, and ensuring all change control and CMMS documentation is current, controlled, approved and reviewed
  • Be the primary administrator for the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) which tracks all assets associated with cGMP and non-cGMP equipment and systems
  • Develop and monitor CMMS maintenance execution metrics and performance indicators, while working closely with the onsite maintenance team and engineers to ensure asset management practices meet GMP and business requirements
  • Function as the facility SME during development of improvement projects involving facility and/or equipment modifications; ensure project prioritization aligns with site strategy and designs follow good engineering practices
  • Function as SME for facilities equipment, including: condensers, evaporators, pumps, air compressors, HVAC systems, air handlers, pressure vessels, high voltage switchgear, temperature sensors, motors and VFDs, control panels, generators, and lighting
  • Maintain documentation for facility layouts, equipment specifications, calibration certs, CMMS administrator SOPs, and project budget tracking reports
  • Responsible to lead the planning, communication, and implementation of key asset upgrades and planned facility downtime, to include coordination with internal and external partners across multiple functions
