About The Position

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost. We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Engineer, Production Measurement located in Calcasieu Pass LNG facilities. General Description: The Senior Engineer, Production Measurement reports to the Staff Engineer and leads the safe, efficient and effective execution of all measurement systems work at Venture Global Calcasieu Pass Liquefied Natural Gas (CPLNG) with as needed travel to support the Venture Global LNG sites. The Senior Engineer, Production Measurement is responsible for develop, implement, and maintain a Metering and Measurements Management System for the Calcasieu Pass LNG facilities and other facilities when required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Process, Chemical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability inmanaging internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oil and Gas experience is required, with strong preference to LNG, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
  • Technical Authority with 5 to 10 years years experience working on instrumentation, measurements and metering with a demonstrated track record of managing Meteringand Measurements Management Systems.
  • Chemical, mechanical, or petroleum engineering.
  • Metering or measurement-focused roles in gas or LNG.
  • Field experience with instrumentation and commissioning
  • Familiarity with custody transfer and commercial contracts
  • Measurement principles and standards - A solid grip on how LNG is measured across the full chain, from liquefaction to storage to loading. That includes:
  • Mass, volume, density, and energy calculations
  • Uncertainty analysis and error propagation
  • Custody transfer concepts and audit readiness
  • Industry standards like API MPMS, ISO standards, and GPA methods
  • Cryogenic instrumentation – A comfort with cryogenic service:
  • Coriolis meters for mass flow
  • Turbine meters in legacy systems
  • Ultrasonic meters for vapor and sometimes liquid
  • Temperature, pressure, and density transmitters rated for cryogenic use
  • Understanding meter proving and validation when traditional proving is not possible
  • LNG composition and energy measurement – aunderstanding of energy, not just volume:
  • Gas chromatography and analyzer systems
  • Heating value, Wobbe index, and molecular weight
  • Boil-off gas accounting
  • Phase behavior during loading, unloading, and storage
  • Data analysis and reconciliation - Understanding of:
  • Flow data validation and trending
  • Mass and energy balance calculations
  • Loss and gain analysis during transfers
  • Root cause analysis for discrepancies
  • Engineering and Operations Skills - A understanding of full process engineer, but you must understand:
  • Liquefaction basics
  • Storage tank behavior
  • Loading arms and ship interface
  • Pipeline hydraulics for LNG and vapor
  • Standards interpretation and compliance Knowing standards .
  • Applying API MPMS to real-world LNG systems
  • Understanding where standards are prescriptive versus flexible
  • Documenting engineering judgment clearly

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all meters and measurements operate to the required design / uncertainty.
  • Ensure that the uncertainty of the metering and measurements system is maintained through the meters and measurements Lifecyle:
  • All meters are calibrated and inspected on a regular basis.
  • All measurements are healthy and operate within design range and uncertainty
  • Ensure that all metering and measurements system certification and calibration documentation are properly managed as part of the Company’s Documents Management System
  • Ensure that the meters operational and maintenance procedures are documented and fit for purpose
  • Measurement Accuracy: Ensure that all metering systems comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure maximum Reliability of the metering and measurements system.
  • Deliver the Production surveillance and monitoring requirements to support Real time Surveillance and Optimization
  • Develop a process to communicate mis-measurements and system changes with key stakeholders.
  • Provide direct technical oversight and supervision of on-site Measurement Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Act as the technical authority for measurement-related decisions, troubleshooting, and performance improvement.
  • Mentor and guide on-site measurement personnel to ensure consistent application of standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate field activities to ensure alignment between engineering intent, operational execution, and measurement assurance.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret metering data to identify any discrepancies or anomalies. Prepare regular reports on metering and measurements performance and uncertainties for key stakeholders.
  • Work with the pipeline using Flow Cal software to help with gain and losses.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance to maximize metering and measurements efficiency to optimize LNG Production. Identify areas for improvement, propose modifications to the metering and measurements system through Management of Change (MoC), and implement solutions to enhance accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and service providers to ensure the timely procurement, maintenance, and repair of metering equipment. Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts as needed.
  • Work with Maintenance and Contract & Procurements to ensure that there is a suitable set of spares and contracts with suppliers and manufacturers to maintain a high reliability of the metering system
  • Maintain accurate documentation of metering systems, calibration records, maintenance logs, and relevant operational procedures. Ensure records are up-to-date and accessible for audits or reporting purposes.
