Toro’s Irrigation and Lighting business is located in Riverside, CA. The Toro Company’s irrigation business is comprised of two distinct brands, Toro® and Irritrol®. Unique Lighting Systems is a leading brand of professional grade lighting fixtures, low voltage transformers, LED lamps and the patented HUB system for installation. Serving both residential and commercial markets, Unique Lighting Systems offers a full line of outdoor lighting products The Sr. Engineer for Product Development supports new product development and sustaining activities by researching, planning and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of mechanical and electromechanical products and systems.

  • Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
  • Supports/participates in cross-functional development teams to plan, schedule and implement project requirements, specifications, cost targets and performance criteria.
  • Prepares or modifies scaled, detailed and accurate mechanical layouts and drawings of new or existing designs and assemblies utilizing CAD.
  • Prepares tolerance studies of new and existing designs
  • Participates in Failure Effects Modes Analysis (FMEA) and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
  • Creates product specifications that meet the marketing requirements.
  • Creates quality specifications to meet product requirements in the field.
  • Plans and directs personnel in the fabrication of prototypes, testing of products per quality specifications, in the fabrication of test fixtures and assembly fixtures and in the selection of raw and purchased materials.
  • Makes disposition decisions on parts that deviate from print through the Material Review Board process.
  • Provides sustaining engineering support to the plants to implement design changes, process improvements and cost reduction projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent engineering program from an (ABET) accredited college or university.
  • Engineer IV-7+ years relevant experience
  • Engineer V-10+ years relevant experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and public groups.
  • Completion of EIT
  • Knowledge of systems applications software, i.e., SAP desirable
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project desired

  • Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $111400 - $162000.
