About The Position

TRC is currently seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to support our Solid Waste projects with our Southeast Engineering and Remediation team. The position involves engineering design, team support, and project management on a variety of waste resources engineering projects, including landfill design, permitting, stormwater design, and renewable energy systems. The role requires a strong background in solid waste management and the ability to mentor junior staff while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

• 7+ years of solid waste experience
• Professional Engineering License (PE) in Virginia; North Carolina preferred
• Must have a valid driver's license
• 7+ years of experience site planning, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, drainage design, grading plans
• 5+ years of landfill design and permitting experience is required
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required
• Excellent technical/computer skills required
• Ability to work in a team environment and on multiple projects at the same time required

Nice To Haves

• Mentor and train junior staff
• Professional Engineer License in Virginia required within six months

Responsibilities

• Engineering design, team support, and project management on a variety of waste resources engineering projects
• Landfill design, landfill permitting, stormwater design, wetland permitting, leachate system design, management, and treatment
• Landfill gas collection and control system design including active gas systems
• Management, blower/flair station, plant operations system troubleshooting and well field tuning, title V emissions reporting
• Facility siting, design, and construction management for landfills, transfer stations, convenience centers, materials recovery facilities, composting facilities
• Landfill capacity analysis, facility / landfill financial assurance, odor assessment and mitigation, tracer gas studies, ambient air monitoring
• Solid waste facility operations
• Construction management and quality assurance
• Design of landfill based renewable energy systems including solar and wind energy, landfill gas to energy systems
• Other waste to energy technologies including anaerobic digestion and biogas
