About The Position

The Senior Engineer position at Tesla involves collaborating with external suppliers and cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive project plans. The engineer will also be responsible for tracking project status, managing part quality assurance, and participating in manufacturing line trials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (foreign equivalent accepted) and five years of experience in testing and validating automotive/consumer goods.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in the same fields with three years of experience is acceptable.
  • Experience with JIRA, Microsoft Project, Confluence, and other project management tools.
  • Proven experience managing engineering projects for mass-produced products.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and communicate project schedules.
  • Experience in learning and incorporating new engineering technologies.
  • Skills in identifying issues and developing corrective measures.
  • Knowledge of manufacturability, product design, and assembly methods.
  • Ability to break down high-level performance issues into actionable items.

Responsibilities

  • Work with external suppliers to develop comprehensive project plans.
  • Drive the program towards the established plan with cross-functional teams.
  • Create, maintain, and present project schedules to engineering leadership.
  • Define and prioritize tasks for the cross-functional team based on various factors.
  • Track project status and action items against the schedule.
  • Identify creative solutions to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines.
  • Select external equipment vendors and integrators for prototype delivery.
  • Validate manufacturing processes to meet product specifications.
  • Participate in manufacturing line trials for new products and processes.
  • Manage part quality assurance through testing and validation.
  • Establish and implement new validation standards and procedures.
  • Document trial observations, analyses, and results, and make recommendations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on testing trials and validation procedures.
  • Collaborate with teams to evaluate performance roll-out.
  • Track project details in JIRA and participate in risk assessment meetings.
