As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be part of our T&O team working as a hybrid employee. You’ll get to evaluate, approve, and implement engineering change orders. This position requires knowledge of electromechanical assemblies and/or Battery Packs. You will work with cross-functional teams to qualify alternate battery cells, electronic modules, and other components-based battery packs along with second source development for subcomponents. You will perform structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis packages and thermal analysis and thermal management for high power electronic assemblies. Additionally, you will work with the model shop and suppliers to get the prototypes, attend product builds at contract manufacturers, and collaborate with various disciplines inside the organization such as ID, Marketing, Manufacturing compliance, safety, and purchasing to understand design considerations and Product CTQs. You will also perform tolerance stack ups, DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s, process control plans, release Engineering Changes, Design test plans, analyze results from advanced testing, design using 3D modeling techniques, release 2D detailed drawings, and create and manage BOM from prototype level to mass production level of product development cycle in PLM system. You will work closely with design teams to help launch time-critical products and manage multiple projects. You are expected to write test plans and assist in the development of fixtures and test equipment, create 2D drawings, and possess a firm understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance. You will approve FPIs and review completed tests, utilize lab test equipment such as data collection equipment, power supply, oscilloscope, and electronic load to conduct testing, and employ Design of Experiments and other scientific methods to develop/qualify processes.
