Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (or equivalent technical degree with relevant experience).
  • Minimum six (6) years of professional engineering experience in power generation or heavy industrial settings.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design, plant systems, and project management principles.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ASCE, and OSHA standards relevant to plant operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering analysis tools; strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to recognize and address emerging plant issues through proactive engineering analysis and data-driven problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced engineering support for plant operations and maintenance, focusing on mechanical, and/or structural/civil aspects and systems.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for assigned plant systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers and technical staff.
  • Lead planning, design, and execution of complex capital and maintenance projects from concept through closeout.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules, ensuring alignment with plant and divisional goals.
  • Administer engineering contracts, review technical deliverables, and oversee contractor performance.
  • Provide engineering input to the Long Range Financial Plan (LRFP) and annual budgeting process.
  • Monitor equipment condition, performance, and reliability to identify trends and develop corrective actions.
  • Support root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of major equipment failures or operational issues.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards, including ASME Section I, B31.1, ASCE codes, OSHA, and AECI safety policies.
  • Promote and model safe work practices throughout all engineering and plant activities.
  • Maintain awareness of technological advancements, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, environmental, procurement, and other plant departments to address engineering and reliability challenges.
  • Communicate technical and project information effectively to management and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the engineering function in plant meetings and cross-departmental initiatives.
