Job Description: Microchip Hauppauge – New York is part of the Microchip Network- and Connectivity Solutions Group (NCS) and has developed a market-leading portfolio of highly integrated Ethernet phy and switch solutions. Our primary areas of responsibility are product definition, semiconductor design, software development, reference system development, and technical customer support. We are part of a world-wide organization with teams in USA, India, Taiwan, and China.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electronics/Electrical Engineering with 7-8 Years or Master’s degree Computer/Electronics/Electrical Engineering with 4-5 years of software development experience
  • At least 2 years of embedded SW design, RTOS
  • Have embedded software-programming skills in C/C++, python
  • Processor and Operating Systems knowledge (preferences are ARM, Linux, VxWorks, QNX)
  • Comfortable with PC hardware, FPGA setup and testing
  • Ability to understand board-level schematics, board bring up, debug hardware issues if necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with multiple projects and deadlines
  • Are a team player but able to work independently - a self-starter, adaptable to rapidly changing market requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Ethernet Phy and Switches knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) standards and generalized Precision Time Protocol (gPTP) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding the functionality and specifications of the Microchip Ethernet switch and Phy products and their application in customer systems.
  • Developing device drivers, tools for Ethernet phy and for Ethernet switches.
  • Creating documentation (user guides, configuration guides and other technical documentation).
  • Assisting customers with system-level design and resolving issues
  • Working with Marketing to identify industry trends to aid in new product development, as well as creating demos for and supporting trade shows.

  • The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304 to $205,000.
  • Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
