About The Position

Microchip is seeking a Senior Engineer I – Hardware. Key Responsibilities: Will be responsible for hardware and firmware development and maintenance of Microchip programmers and debuggers Will be required to troubleshoot, investigate, and solve tool related problems Will be required to read and understand information from datasheets, programming/debugging specifications, and schematics Will require knowledge of microcontroller-based designs, schematic development, and provide recommendations for PCB floor planning and layout Will be required to analyze and test hardware prototypes and adjust the design as needed Will be required to evaluate products for safety and environmental issues Will be required to write firmware and PC software to support new and legacy Microchip devices Will be required to run tests and contribute to the testing infrastructure Will be required to work with other company divisions to support new silicon and new products Will be required to maintain knowledge of computer engineering trends and new technology

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware and firmware development or a related field
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to find, collect, and analyze technical information from various sources
  • Good understanding of FPGA development and Microsemi Liber or Xilinx toolset
  • Good understanding of VHDL or Verilog language and simulation
  • Adequate knowledge of the C and C++ programming language
  • Good understanding of computer architecture and computer serial peripheral buses
  • Knowledge of Electronic Design software such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle, or KiCad
  • Basic knowledge of assembly programming
  • Good communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Embedded Controller External Bus Interfaces
  • Familiarity with ARM devices and the ARM ecosystem
  • Familiarity with modern version control systems such as Git
  • Familiarity with PIC microcontrollers
  • Familiarity with MPLAB and Microchip tools
  • Familiarity with PC programming using Java

Responsibilities
