About the position
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capability Unit (SCU) at BAE Systems Inc, Space and Mission Systems Sector is looking to expand our team with a talented and energetic software engineer to work on satellite ground system software delivering new capability to the industry. This position consists of working on a tightly integrated team in a fast-paced Agile environment to deliver continuous innovation to our customers. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Responsibilities
- Perform full software life cycle functions including software requirements, architecture, design, code, test, integration, documentation, and support.
- Perform software life cycle functions utilizing agile product development approaches; scrum, continuous integration, and continuous deploy.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment with both internal and external customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
- A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- Experience delivering high-reliability software in an agile, team-based environment with a strong DevSecOps CI/CD (Gitlab CI/CD).
- Experience in containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift, ArgoCD, etc.).
- Experience in modern software development in Java, C++ or Python programming.

- Additional experience helpful in the following technologies: Message brokers (Active MQ, MQTT, AMQP, Kafka).
- Scrum-based Agile development.
