Requirements

  • Job requires a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and 4 years of professional experience in any occupation involving civil engineering design, development, and construction.
  • The position requires 4 years of experience in: Real-world civil, geotechnical, cut/fill analysis, and road design.
  • Field experience on large civil projects, including troubleshooting, quality evaluation, and construction support.
  • Civil Engineering standards and codes in the US.
  • Field experience with pile load testing.
  • AutoCAD and Bluebeam (Revu).
  • The position also requires two (2) years of experience in PV, Substation, and Battery Energy Storage System design and interconnection.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point of contact for geotechnical related issues and inquiries in the western United States and Hawaiian electricity markets.
  • Provide geotechnical consultation to internal AES staff, as well as consultants and construction contractors. This consultation assists with estimating CAPEX costs for, secure Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for, develop, design, and construct wind, solar, battery storage, and green hydrogen projects.
  • Review potential project sites and quantify project risks, including how they may impact the design, equipment procurement, construction, and operation & maintenance (O&M) of a project.
  • Responsible for developing global company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Scope of Work (SOW), and Technical Specification documents related to geotechnical investigations, 5% to Issued for Construction (IFC) design, and construction operations.
  • Provide oversight for consultants and contractors to ensure adherence with company standards and specifications.
  • Assist legal teams with contract wording for Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies prior to construction.
