P&WC's Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Engineering team is looking for technically savvy and hands on engineers to contribute to the growth of our after-sales services. We have a growing fleet of Gas Turbine Engines that are being serviced throughout our extensive worldwide service network requiring specific engineering oversight. This role involves evaluating critical engine components for performance and reliability, developing repair solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards, and optimizing repair processes to improve flow of parts and engines through our service network. You will grow into the role to eventually be recognized as an LEA (Local Engineering Authority) Component Engineer, giving you increased approval ownership and accountability over your technical dispositions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to lead and deliver innovative solutions to keep our fleet of engines flying safely. Whether it's an aging fleet or the commissioning of a new engine, you'll find that there are always challenges to overcome! Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years' experience in aeronautics, engineering, manufacturing operations, Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) (preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of Gas Turbine engine components and operations
  • Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing/inspection processes, and repair techniques
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills in a fast-paced customer focused environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI / ENOVIA (PLM) / SAP
  • This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Evaluation and Decision-Making: Conduct in-depth evaluations of various engine components such as gearbox housings, drive shafts, compressor rotors, discs, combustion chambers, blades, nozzles, etc. Assess components under real-life conditions, even when they fall outside the scope of approved or published instructions like overhaul/maintenance manuals. Identify, analyze, and make technical decisions regarding faulty conditions, including corrosion, cracking, deformation, wear, dents, and dimensional deviations. Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manuals to ensure compliance with design requirements and airworthiness standards. Consider aspects such as structural integrity, performance, dynamics, materials, and reliability when making decisions about component acceptance, repair, or rejection.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Partner with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality, to develop repair strategies and improve component reliability, cost, turnaround time, and operational efficiency. Work with local manufacturing experts to understand and leverage conventional and non-conventional machining methods, as well as specialized processes like electroplating, welding, heat treatment, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
  • Customer Interaction: Collaborate with key customers, including overhaul centers such as P&WC's St-Hubert facility and other authorized repair shops globally. Provide support and technical expertise to ensure customer satisfaction and adherence to quality standards.
  • Process Improvement and Cost Reduction: Contribute to cost reduction initiatives by identifying opportunities for efficiency and innovation in component repair and overhaul processes. Participate in projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing turnaround times without compromising quality.
  • Continuous Learning and Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on advancements in MRO technologies, materials, and industry best practices to incorporate innovative solutions into daily operations. Leverage this knowledge to ensure that the organization remains competitive and compliant with evolving standards.
