We are seeking an experienced, full-time Senior Engineer (Environmental) to manage environmental compliance projects supporting federal agencies, Department of Defense (DoD) clients, and private-sector organizations throughout Southern California and the Southwest. This role requires strong expertise in federal environmental regulations, hazardous materials and waste management, environmental reporting, and technical project management. The selected candidate will oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage project budgets and schedules, serve as a primary client liaison, and ensure regulatory compliance across government and private-sector projects. This role is primarily office-based with periodic field assignments at commercial or government facilities. Field activities may occur in outdoor or active project environments. Regional travel of up to 25% may be required based on project demands.

Requirements

  • Possess either a Master's degree in Engineering or a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) credential in any U.S. state (California PE preferred) .
  • Minimum 6 years of experience managing environmental compliance or investigation projects, including budgeting, cost estimating, scheduling, procurement, and field execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in hazardous materials and hazardous waste management, pollution prevention (P2) programs, Environmental Condition of Property (ECP) assessments, asbestos and lead-based paint surveys and abatement oversight, environmental compliance auditing, and Other Environmental Liabilities (OEL) assessments.
  • Experience working within federal and Department of Defense (DoD) environmental compliance contracts.
  • Experience in preparing technical reports, regulatory documentation, and compliance deliverables.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must successfully pass drug screening, motor vehicle record (MVR) check, education verification, and criminal background check.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in achieving compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, including: Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) Sections 312 and 313 reporting California Senate Bill 14 (SB 14) – Hazardous Waste Source Reduction and Management Review Act Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) compliance HUD Guidelines for Lead-Based Paint Evaluation and Control
  • Manage environmental compliance and investigation projects from planning through completion.
  • Develop cost estimates, project schedules, and budgets; monitor performance and financial accountability.
  • Lead proposal preparation, including technical approaches and bid documentation for federal and private-sector opportunities.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Oversee QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance of project deliverables.
  • Prepare and oversee Work Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs), Accident Prevention Plans (APPs), and Site Safety and Health Plans (SSHPs).
  • Lead field teams in executing investigations and compliance activities in accordance with approved plans.
  • Collect, manage, and interpret environmental field and analytical data.
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations.
  • Serve as primary author or technical reviewer for reports, regulatory submissions, and client deliverables.
  • Support the professional development of junior team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback.
  • Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
